Challah bread for dainty lil cucumber tea sandwiches
Challah bread for dainty lil cucumber tea sandwiches
I remember going to a tea party in high school. They had cute little decorated tables with the 3-tier things (what are those called?) on top. Bev was there along with Mariela and others from our senior class. We had scones and different assorted sandwiches. In high school and college I always gave in to pastries and fried things WAY too much. Getting off gluten has really helped me demonstrate temperance. I knew God wants me to keep my body as healthy as possible, but I just never took it seriously enough for some reason (maybe...attraction to tasty 'junk'). I never lost or gained much weight because I'd go to the gym, but it eventually caught up to me after college. After letting go of the gluten/wheat products about a year ago, I dropped 15 lbs within a few months with pretty much no effort. Yes there are fattening g-free products, but I don't crave it so much anymore.
Now on to the challah bread. This bread is fantasticly fluffy. I figured it would be perfect for cucumber sandwiches.
I like using a
paste on my cucumber sandwiches. All you do is combine a container of better than cream cheese, a whole cucumber, optional veganaise 2 Tbsp, a teensy bit of onion and garlic powder, and salt and lemon juice to taste (I put lemons or lime in almost everything!) Blend slightly and the spread is ready. Lightly toast the challah bread and put the spread, add tomato slices, and lettuce or sprouts.
I had this with those veggie straws. They're healthier than regular chips (which have so many calories and are not as healthy).
